Honestly, this is IMHO a really canonical version of Kolya. The way he look at Rodney when Rodney demands the knife in "Brotherhood" is . . . well, just like this! "Now *this* guy would never bore me. I must take him away and explore, um, explore stuff with him." And Rodney's just lucky Kolya & Sheppard didn't pee on him in their little "he's mine! No, mine!" fight.
