It's not that I hate John. It's that I am supremely uncomfortable with his actions and mindset considering that he is aware of Rodney's own timidity in the situation. If they don't have sex, they're not going to die. Things won't explode, the universe won't end. Etc. John will just be frustrated. And we all know how well John does when he's frustrated.
Another thing, I was talking this over with someone because I couldn't pinpoint exactly what was bothering me and suddenly it dawned. Rodney isn't vocal enough. Even when John is pushing him in episodes (see Inferno) Rodney is totally giving a loud, mouthy showy push back. And because this is John pov and you made the decision to have Rodney internalize a lot of his own issues, I came away feeling that Rodney was somehow... prevented from speaking. I think that if he'd spoken up a bit. Been a bit mouthier, many of the original objectors would fall to the wayside.
He wouldn't have to of said "No", in fact nothing he said would have to of indicated directly that the thought (however remote) that he was still going to say "stop" and leave. I just kept expecting him to be louder I guess.
That's not to say he's OOC in your story. Rodney being quiet when tense and a tad overwhelmed has plenty of evidence in canon too. But the pov of the peice took us away from all of his thoughts and that possibly is another place you're getting the surprising reactions from.
