No, he didn't, and I don't fault him for that. My problem is the way he very deliberately manipulates Rodney, using Rodney's naivete and inexperience as lever to get his way. I understand that John's desperate and personally in a not very good place, but the way he sort of contemptuously targets Rodney and reels him in, all the while disregarding Rodney as a person, just feels really creepy and unpleasant to me.
