No, no -- no apology needed. Your reaction is actually fairly common in the range of responses. It's one that surprised me when I first posted the story, but since then I've grown accustomed to it. I've noticed that men, ex-military, and women in their late thirties and early forties seem to have less trouble with John's behavior than women in their twenties (I've asked reviewers their ages, and in some cases they were f-listers so I already knew).

Traces Through Time was my SGA debut fic and I find the idea, as well as the happy resolution, comforting. As for Rodney playing that music for John, well, first John has to convince him.
