As if there weren't enough reasons to be afraid in Atlantis, much less the rest of the Pegasus Galaxy.
I love the idea that behind all the glittering glass and metal there's a very dark side to the city, complete with an oubliette. There's so much of the city that they haven't explored yet, there's bound to be something worse than anything they've discovered yet.
I also think it's great that you portray the Ancients as, well, human, not some all-knowing benevolent race of super-humans. To me "Hot Zone" really started to erode the idea that the Ancients were some sort of infallable protectors of humans, regardless of which planet they were born on.
How John is influenced by Atlantis is (and I hate to re-use everyone else's description) creepy. How he felt the need to hand over his sidearm to Rodney "just in case" shows how much he feels Atlantis.
In short, excellent piece. I'm glad I didn't read this in the middle of the night. *grin*
