Genre: Gen

[livejournal.com profile] sga_flashfic challenge: Secret Superpower

Warning: Graphic under cut - scaled down to be (hopefully) dialup friendly. Links to larger version.

John Sheppard hated his superpower.

It wasn't even a power. Or super. Hell, it wasn't even useful. He only called it his 'superpower' with sarcasm. Sarcasm that had been enhanced by exposure to Rodney McKay.

He'd hoped that living on Atlantis would be the end of his powers. After all, Atlantis was a deserted city, in another galaxy, far far away. He was safe, right?

At 0500 the morning after he'd shot his commanding officer and awoken nasty life-sucking space vampires a thump sounded in his quarters and a distinctly pissed off yowl followed. John turned over, opened his eyes, and groaned at the glowing cat.

"Damn it," John said, getting out of bed and opening the folded paper. The cat gave him a look and stalked through the walls. John was too busy staring at the paper.

"Oh, god. Even the Ancients have tabloids?!"

OMG. "Early Edition" gone so very, very wrong. You get many points.

The image was dialup friendly, thank you.
ext_13204: (Guh!)

[identity profile] nonniemous.livejournal.com 2006-08-05 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! Oh, Cat would be SO pissed if he had to go to another Galaxy to deliver the paper. Love the idea!

[identity profile] ldyanne.livejournal.com 2006-08-05 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
That is great! I just love it ;-)

The graphic is very clever. I take it the cat is a reference to or crossover with something else? What is it?

[identity profile] thekynicist.livejournal.com 2006-08-05 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
This is hilarious, and is it wrong that I want to read the tabloid?

[identity profile] dark-cygnet.livejournal.com 2006-08-05 03:33 am (UTC)(link)

Ascended World New! *snerk* Poor John, running around Atlantis, trying to fix things before they happen. He'll be exhausted in less than a week!.

(The two Weirs were priceless)

[identity profile] iibnf.livejournal.com 2006-08-05 05:47 am (UTC)(link)

OMG! EE/SGA! *dies* You rule.

(Anonymous) 2006-08-05 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
Oh *wow*!

And it's an ascended cat! Oh man, I can just imagine Rodney trying to figure out how he could possibly be hearing and catching glimpses of a cat in Atlantis. I wonder if ascended cats like tuna?

Posters here not having heard of Early Edition supports a suspicion I have: Countries mainly export their trash TV, not the wholesome stuff. Which goes to explain BBCAmerica, and those horrible American and Candian sitcoms and sf&f, and sushi TV, and why no one in the countries that produce them seems to have actually seen any of the shows their country is identified with.

*beams*

[identity profile] eternalmusings.livejournal.com 2006-08-07 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I love this, so great.

Where did you get the pic of Cadman kissing Rodney? Cause I know that wasn't in the episode!

[identity profile] saphanibaal.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Did the cat walk through walls in that show, or is that a direct Pixel reference?

(One hopes the cat at least brings the Weekly World News or tabloids whose cheeks had lingual impactions of comparable severity.)

[identity profile] argosy.livejournal.com 2006-08-09 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
