As you all may have noticed, the city is in lock down. The quarantine began at 3:17 AST this morning, possibly coupled with or caused by the massive power failure you are no doubt also noticing.

For those of you not with the program, and by that I mean, common sense:
Stay in one place, don’t panic, don’t touch anything you wouldn’t normally touch. We are not under attack. We are dealing with the problem.

Also, seeing as radios aren’t functioning either, those of you resourceful enough to check your email, please keep everyone informed.

Primary systems are offline. Yes, this includes Life Support. Stay where you are and try not to use up any extra air.

Obviously the network is online. Conserve laptop power. They don’t seem to be charging.

Please gather all individuals into central location in each sector. Emergency life support systems are located in any room designated as living quarters (look for attached bathroom). Find wall panel with green border. Detach panel. Follow attached instructions.

For those of you who can’t figure out how to download a file or possibly don’t know what a pdf is:

1. Open panel. Use your teeth if you have to.
2. Push the green button. Yes, the really obvious one.
3. Survive.

Any other questions? Email someone with less important things to do.

Dear Arthur,

I assume you meant to ask “which one do I remove?” If your room is not properly equipped with a standard tool kit located underneath the bed, move to a different room. I assume you have already woken any sleeping individuals and are speaking for all of the individuals in your sector rather than yourself. With large power failure, it is imperative to only activate such emergency systems as are absolutely necessary.

Using a flathead screw driver from the standard issue tool kit, you should be able to pry off the wall panel at the upper edge. If the control panel does not have a 4x4 grid of control crystals, move to the other panel. To the right of the grid, you will find an apparatus reminiscent of a large green button. Press it. Air should now be flowing from the vents at floor level.

Sincerely,
Dr. Eric Kavanagh

Dear members of the Atlantis Expedition,

As you may be aware, Atlantis is in the midst of an emergency situation that began at 3:17 AST this morning. The city is under lockdown. Radios and life support are not functioning. Drs. McKay and Zelenka are working on the problem and will hopefully have a solution and an explanation for us soon.

For your safety:
1. Please make sure everyone in your sector is awake and moved to a central location. Dr. Zelenka suggests a handful of neighboring living quarters.
2. Activate the emergency life support system in the living quarters by following the attached instructions.
3. Remain calm and keep apprised of the situation via email.
4. If you have any questions about your personal situation, please avail yourself of Dr. Kavanagh’s expertise via emergencyqna@lists.atlsmail.gov.

As far as we know we are not under attack.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of Lt. Colonel Sheppard, please inform myself or Dr. McKay immediately.

Marines, supervise the relocation of all individuals to suitable locations with functioning emergency life support as per Dr. Zelenka’s specifications.

If you are in Residential Two, inform Lt. Colonel Sheppard of the situation. He should be in his quarters.

If Mr. Magic Gene can romance his city out of this…

Radios work within sectors, implying that the source of RF damping is structural and located between sectors, which it shouldn’t be since that would require Atlantis to have spontaneously developed RF shielding overnight. Radek and I have the power tools out. We’re going through the wall.

Dr. Weir,

We believe we have discovered source of RF shielding. It is chemical in nature, located within the structure of Atlantis itself. Database gives substance several extraordinary properties, including ability to absorb a wide range of radigtl'dk,l

Yes, yes. Elizabeth, there’s foam in the walls. The Database claims it can block wraith culling beams. Unfortunately, it also blocks radio. Obviously meant as a last resort against wraith invasion of the city. Also obviously it would be a severe disadvantage to lock everyone in isolated sectors, ergo there is some sort of protocol for allowing individuals with the required clearance to get through. Which brings me back to, where is Mr. Magic Pants?

And really, what’s with asking me about his sex life?

There’s a crashed Wraith Dart near the second botany lab. The dart did a lot of damage when it hit. Pilot killed on impact but may have beamed more wraith into the city. I have three marines with me and one dedicated botanist. Dr. Brown has a broken leg and possibly a concussion.

Lorne, you’ve been reading the emails, can you get anyone out here? We need to do a sweep of the city. McKay, how soon can you get the doors open and the radios working?

Dear members of the Atlantis expedition,

Considering how it all started, it seems fitting to close out this adventure with an email. By now, you have all heard about yesterday’s exciting events. At 3:16 AST, a wraith dart crashed into Pier 4, damaging Botany Lab 2. Dr. Katie Brown, working in the lab at the time, came away with a minor concussion and a twisted knee. Dr. Beckett assures me she’ll be fine.

Shortly after the crash, Atlantis initiated emergency procedures in response to a wraith invasion of the city, causing the radio failure and lock down. However, Dr. McKay informs me that the system was already extremely damaged before in was implemented, leading to the side effects of massive power failure and indeed, to its being implemented in the first place.

There were never any Wraith in the city. Dr. Zelenka informs me that study of the dart wreckage suggests that the craft was already damaged and its pilot dead before entering the atmosphere. The dart’s landing site and the effects of the crash on Atlantis were all unlucky accidents. As far as we know, the wraith dart was part of a routine scouting trip and not related to any new information gathered by the wraith about the city’s survival.

That said, I’m very proud of the expedition’s response to the crisis. Drs. McKay and Zelenka came through for us spectacularly, as usual, as did Dr. Kusanagi by getting the lights back on, but I also want to thank the marines for stepping forward to handle the necessary relocation of personnel and to congratulate all the members of the expedition on a calm and reasonable response to the crisis. I especially want to thank Dr. Eric Kavanagh for stepping forward to handle individual questions, thereby allowing Drs. McKay and Zelenka to focus on the task at hand.

Once again, good job, everybody! I hope we never have a more serious crisis than this, but it heartens me to know that if we do, my expedition will respond in such a professional manner.
