ADMIN POST: Formatting reminder
On behalf of the SGA_Flashfic minions, could I remind you to put your title and authorname in the subject line, i.e. "Sheppard's Fantabulous Day," by Ingrammckay? It helps them a lot when they're archiving.
Thanks, and we return you to your regularly scheduled challenge responses.

re: cross-posting clarification
(Anonymous) 2006-07-20 08:24 am (UTC)(link)I have an OT question: I was curious if challenge answers may be announced in other places. (i.e. not actually post the story, but a link to it) I have seen this done before, for instance on the mckay_sheppard lj, and I wondered if it was against the 'no cross-posting during the challenge' rule.
Thanks a lot!
ADMIN
This is a totally on topic question! *G* The way it works is--we get exclusive rights to the story until you see a "closing challenge" post from the admins. This means that the story appears on the sga_flashfiction website only (or, if it's really just too long for LJ, on a private page that is linked ONLY from the SGA website.) However, you may post a link on your own LJ publicizing your story and/or directing people to the sga_flashfic site (i.e. "Hey, I just posted a story for the sga flashfic darkfic challenge--go here and look.")
What we're really trying to do is to keep things centralized for the duration of the challenge--like, to promote sga_flashfic as a place where you can get fiction that, at least for a while, you can't get anywhere else, and to bring all the readers together on that one page. AFTER the challenge closes, the story's yours again and you can post it wherever you want to: mazel tov.
Make sense?
Re: ADMIN
no subject
If I post a link to SGAflashfic from another comm or LJ, is that okay? Meaning, the text is located here, but the entry HERE is URLed on another comm/LJ?
Just curious.
ADMIN
Not at all; it's what I'm here for!
The text of your flashfiction story--and the comments--should be posted at the flashfiction communty. You can post a link TO the flashfic community from your livejournal to pimp your fic HERE, (on the grounds that we'd love to bring more people here; the whole goal of the stupid rule is to try to centralize people here and get them interested in this community and have them play here--we want exclusive rights to tempt people here!) But only after the flashfiction challenge FORMALLY CLOSES (i.e. you see the ADMIN post a closing note) can you move the TEXT to your own LJ or archive. Vis a vis crossposting, it's generally considered to be bad form to cross-post your flashfiction entry to other sga communities (on the grounds that most flashfic people are already subbed to those communities, and it would be a pain if EVERYONE did it) but I could imagine a situation where it would be okay--like, if you wrote an obscure pairing and wanted to tell everyone at the Obscure Pairing Community that you'd written a fanfic for flashfiction that they might want to check out. And then you'd send them HERE.
That make sense? (I'm trying to give a bit of a sense of the goals, too, so that it's not like--BECAUSE I SAY SO! It's really not!)
