John Sheppard hated his superpower.

It wasn't even a power. Or super. Hell, it wasn't even useful. He only called it his 'superpower' with sarcasm. Sarcasm that had been enhanced by exposure to Rodney McKay.

He'd hoped that living on Atlantis would be the end of his powers. After all, Atlantis was a deserted city, in another galaxy, far far away. He was safe, right?

At 0500 the morning after he'd shot his commanding officer and awoken nasty life-sucking space vampires a thump sounded in his quarters and a distinctly pissed off yowl followed. John turned over, opened his eyes, and groaned at the glowing cat.

"Damn it," John said, getting out of bed and opening the folded paper. The cat gave him a look and stalked through the walls. John was too busy staring at the paper.

"Oh, god. Even the Ancients have tabloids?!"

It's a reference to the CBS TV show from a few years back "Early Edition" were the guy would get a copy of the next day's newspaper (delivered by a cat) and had to try to change things.

Not sure why poor John gets the tabloids.....

Did the cat walk through walls in that show, or is that a direct Pixel reference?

(One hopes the cat at least brings the Weekly World News or tabloids whose cheeks had lingual impactions of comparable severity.)

I can't recall if the cat in Early Edition walked through walls, but it seemed like something an Ascended Cat would do.
