A Light in the Mist

TITLE: A Light in the Mist
LENGTH: 100 words
MOOD/RATING: PG/GEN
PAIRING: None
SUMMARY: "...He ran so far, so long, he outran death itself. And on the darkest nights you can still see him, running, always running, with only the lantern to light his way..."

Teyla was well aware what the bobbing wisp of light wasn't, because everyone knew the stories of the Runner's Lantern were just that. Because she was a grown woman who'd faced down Wraith, and Genii, and countless things more terrifying than a ghost. It was just superstition, like Rodney's hook-handed murderer and John's knife-clawed sleep demon. Tales to frighten children, not adults. Just silly, stupid campfire tales.

Unfortunately no one had explained this to the light, and it fluttered closer in those inhuman bounds.

It was Carson who finally led the retreat, babbling something about Unseely courts and Teine Sith.

Smart Carson, remembering his family's fairy tales, I'm betting. Run! Run from the creepy lights!

*lol* Personally if I'd been through everything they've had happen to them the last couple of years I'd be running like mad away from the little bobbing lights. Although I love Carson's reactions!! :D

Very universal theme. Humorous and kind of sweet--don't we all kind of almost sort of believe our childhood ghost stories?
