“Beckett, get your Scottish ass out of that damn chair!” McKay shouts as the water continues to press against the shield, weakening their already depleted ZedPM

Seeing that his yelling was making no difference, McKay turned, looking at all the eager idiots, turning systems on, not even worried about the power.

“Stop!” He tries again, screaming and hoping that somebody will listen to him, will get the damn military goons away from the controls, get the scientists under control. He prays half-heartedly to any god that would listen, hoping to survive, if only to kick some moronic asses.

“Fuck,”.

Sometimes, John stares at the evening sky and wonders about what could have been. Not often—he knows that nothing but sorrow lays down that path, but occasionally. When he’s had a hard day at work, when he fights with the girlfriend, when the news tries to explain away explosions in the night sky as satellite collisions. He knows what’s really out there, he has to look at the sky and wonder if their still alive.

But most of the time he goes on with his life, living and dying in a world under constant threat of attack from above.

Her skin is wrinkled with age, her children have practically had children themselves. The Athosians have flourished over the years, under Teyla’s patient leadership. The shadows have gradually left her people’s eyes—they no longer fear the darkness, fear what used to be.

Teyla still tells stories about the Wraith: she tries to scare the children, remind them of their past. It has been too long since a culling, however. Her people are beginning to think that maybe the Wraith have left, that they have died off, simply faded away into nothingness.

If only it could be so easy.
