Title: And then I'll be your ain true-love
Author:
wintercreek
Rating: PG
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Spoilers: None in particular. Set ambiguously in season three.
Warnings: Improbable occurences.
Word Count: About 4800.
Notes: This is Tam Lin, picked up from Scotland and set down in the Pegasus Galaxy, where weirder things happen before breakfast. I'm drawing from the ballad itself and more heavily from Pamela Dean's wonderful novel. I tried something different with verb tenses here and I'd love to know if it works.
Summary: Rodney's not exactly a maiden with golden hair, but he'll have to do.
( 'O I forbid you, maidens a', / That wear gowd on your hair, / To come or gae by Carterhaugh, / For young Tam Lin is there.' Except different. )
