Title: Consider the Great Wall of China
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 5600
Summary: Rodney channels his inner Vizzini, John eschews capitalization, and Chuck's name really isn't Chuck.
Notes: I did the best I could with the timeline and technical aspects of the emails; please forgive any inaccuracies.

One stone at a time, man. But I've read you can see that motherfucker from space without a telescope.

Oh, thank you for this wonderfully funny story.

I'm so ill with some icky cold, but this made me feel ever so much better.

You even managed to sneak a little 'Princess Bride' into the mix - God Love You!

I laughed, then laughed some more.

And - Creepy Mc Weirderson -snicker-

I just read this fic, and it is so funny and wonderful, I immediately recced it to a friend of mine. Like a lot of others, I thought The Princess Bridge bit was hysterical, and I loved that you carried it through the story. Rodney is totally someone who would have been into the movie. He was probably forced to watch it the first time by either a girlfriend or his sister (I can almost hear him bitching about it being a chick flick), but then he'd get into it cause it's just a fantastic movie, especially the scene you went off of. So not only is it funny, but it's in character, too. Anyway, good job!

This is wonderful. I love, love that it takes Rodney forever to figure it out because he assumes that Radek is the only one smart enough to do that. And the last email from Charles is priceless.

i feel pretty bad that i never commented on this because it [a] had to have been within the first 20 stories i read in this fandom and [b] is one my all time favorite stories. it has a lovely structure, and a good rodney voice, a nice reveal and i really love the email conceit (also, upon rereading now, it was nice to see someone thinks the same things about dates for the middle of season two, and the chuck has only gotten funnier with time).

it also contains a line of dialogue from john that either echoed my thoughts or effected them, i'm not sure which anymore:
"All right, look. I don't know about you, but I'm kind of planning to die on Atlantis. Or somewhere in Pegasus, at least." Rodney's eyes went wide and round and John sighed. "Not anytime soon, obviously--five minutes, see why I asked?--but this is my home, Rodney. This is my life. The rest of it."
because, yes, that is completely what i want for him, and what i believe john thinks.

Clearly, AC was not American: only a great fool would reach for the wine placed in front him. Rodney was not a great fool, so he clearly could not choose the wine in front of him. However, AC must have known that Rodney was not a great fool, so Rodney clearly could not choose the wine in front of AC: AC was American.

This is a first. And by that, I mean, this is the first time a fic has had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. Seriously. The emails right before the Iocaine reenactment, and that whole passge, and then the last three emails, all had me in fits.

It's gonna take me a moment to get my breath back. Could. Not. Stop. Laughing.

Princess Bride references never get old. That was cute and funny and sweet and kinda hot, and the last e-mail was perfect.
