I've been reading other people's comments because I have to admit that John's behavior bothered me as well. Let me be clear in saying that's it's NOT his "I'm about to die, at least I can get laid a lot before it happens" attitude. I totally get that. This does not bother me and makes total sense.
What bothers me is John's incremental pushing of Rodney when he's clearly uncomfortable. To me Rodney is obviously not in the same mindset as John and John clearly knows this and is aware of it and then dismisses it. He's all about his own needs, he's a dick. And yes, John can be a dick at times, but once you're a dick to someone who's obviously uncomfortable about your current sexual situation, it just feels that shy of non consentual.
I think that Rodney's disappearance the next day only compounds the idea in some people's minds that he was pushed into a situation that was clearly over his head (whether he liked it or not, enjoyed it or not, is entirely besides the point) and now that it's the cold light of day, he's getting to his freak out because John got laid and is therefore not pushing and distracting and rationalizing him to stay.
Caveat - It was a hot, interesting read. I didn't want to come in and sound all finger pointy and mean. But I thought maybe I could help explain some of what was going on in mine and other people's minds.
