Stargate Atlantis Flashfiction

I read all the comments with interest because I'm really of two minds about this. I love the story -- I think you did a fantastic job of capturing the "guy" mentality in general, and John in particular. (I don't think canon John is a particularly nice guy.) The scenario you lay out feels incredibly realistic. In fact, it's uncomfortably realistic. I suppose with my taste in fic/fanfic I'm not used to reading about the sort of manipulative, "off-track" sex that often takes place in real life. (By off-track I mean sex between two people with different motives, desires--just in a different head space and looking at the situation from completely different places.) I think the thing that makes this story feel sad to me is that it felt like, sex aside, Rodney was approaching the encounter with their friendship in the forefront of his mind, while John had excised all thought of friendship from his mind and was basically treating Rodney like a whore.

Or maybe it's not two minds--maybe I'm not used to being so impressed and enthralled by a story featuring a character POV and scenario I don't like at all. It's excellent writing. :)
