But Rodney's phasing doesn't seem to work by strict superpower rules, anyway (which is a good thing because a) there's no rational exporession for how it would work, anyway, so no reason to stick to it and b) it's not a superpower he was born with, but rather the result of technology gone wrong.) -- I got the impression that only the part of him that's actually within solid matter is phased, and that's why it takes so long. So he can still have solid fingertips!
