I'm pulling recs together and realized I saved this but never actually commented: so very belatedly--this was amazing. Chilling and my heart goes out to both this John who made the wrong choice and KNOWS IT (which is always much more tragic!) but also everyone in Pegasus who might be missing him...
And I see your response above where you suggest that this John has less guilt, but I think I'm too existentialist to think that John would prefer in the end to have less pain and joy...even if at that particular moment when he decided, he thought he would...
