Oh, I have a great fondness for the 1980s. E.g. I'm loving the fact that flat ballerinas are back, and short but twirly skirts and leggings! Those were totally 80s and now everyone looks just like that again! And leggings are now called 'footless tights', I notice, but, psst, they're still leggings.
I did give my people particular kinds of clothes, not the peak of fashionability, just for the sheer fun of it. *g*

I really enjoyed thinking myself into that teenage mind and trying to remember how *clueless* I actually was, and also how innocent about sex, despite posturing. And how bitchy girls can be. :-) Also, I wanted to twist Rodney's memory of the hot kiss round to make it not all that hot for April. But then I think, April can't yet really feel hot, she's not relaxed enough to be sexual.
I also had fun making Rodney invent the mobile phone and the hand-held computer game... *g*
