Well, that lead to a fascinating web search and a number of places that sell sarongs on line -- which, if it gets any hotter in this part of the Great White North, I'm taking advantage of. *g*
Almost all the sarongs mentioned were worn straight although I did find a reference that said, "...worn straight not hitched between the legs as they are in Central Thailand". No pictures though, which was kind of annoying.
The cousins-in-laws wear bicycle shorts under theirs to prevent accidental exposure while dancing but where's the fun in that...
