This was a really interesting look at John; believable and insightful. I enjoyed it.

I liked the section with his father best. The "broken" between them was almost tangible. I'd love to believe the General was trying to reach out and John was ready to reach back, but John was so isolated that I'm not sure he would know how. That makes me sad.

The ending was perfect. If feels like he's moved from despair, through detachment, and into hope. *sighs*
