Wow, what an image. Of course John could not just flip a switch and be "normal" after the events during the storm and the takeover, not to mention everything else that crazy first year, and I love the way you illuminate just what he had to deal with and how he dealt (or didn't deal) with it.
Loved the comment about how weird it is that he is in charge of Marines, because, boy, is it ever. I would love to read something from the Marine POV someday on just how weird it is for *them*. John must be like an alien species to them.
And now I am consumed by the idea of Sheppard in the Foreign Legion, although really, that's sort of where he's been for the last couple years...
