Actually now I'm wondering what the Wraith do with the bodies after they're done with them. This hints that they dump them somewhere accessible (opposed to spacing them). If that's the case this death cult is actually performing a service for both the victims and the Wraith, since leaving bodies around like that is asking for all kinds of epidemics.
It fits that the lamenters don't bury people, since the Wraith leave dried out husks.
