Hah- yes, the language thing irritates me frequently. The writers? producers? I don't remember which - said somewhere that they decided the gates would automatically make everyone understand the same language. Which works for them, I suppose, but bugs me!
My mental Severus is probably pretty darn annoyed about fandom competition at this point, considering that I temporarily abandoned him to write someone else. But I think it's been good for me to try out different characters! As for my fault - can I pass the blame on to dark_cygnet for getting me interested in SGA in the first place? ;)
There's a lot of excellent SGA fic around. Let me know if you want some recs (but don't tell Severus...)
