Title: Words of Wisdom
Author: sga_addicted
Rating: G
Characters: Elizabeth
Disclaimer: I do not own Stargate Atlantis or any of its characters.
Summary: Elizabeth finally recognizes her ability for what it is: a superpower.
Elizabeth had always been to use words wisely. She first noticed when she was a young girl and had accidentally broken her neighbor's favorite toy. How she had been able to smooth the situation over with the boy was somewhat of a mystery to both her family and his. She grew to love her ability to guide the proper words out of her mouth, to be able to ease the tension of a situation just by speech. The words just came to her, and she embraced her finesse with them.
Soon the art of using the English language become an integral part of her daily life, first when she joined the speech club and debate team, and then when she went to college at Georgetown University to further her expertise. All too soon she was negotiating very sensitive international treaties between the most atrocious, self-involved people successfully, and then she was brought to the Stargate program.
Being the commander of the Atlantis Expedition Team was absolutely astounding, but required her diplomatic abilities far more then she had originally expected. The many peoples of the Pegasus Galaxy were wary of others, having grown up with the Wraith culling their people. Having been responsible for the waking of the Wraith also did not help to reassure of their friendliness.
Slowly, though, Elizabeth realized that she was able to be more effective than any of her teams, of her people - including Teyla - in brokering deals for food, supplies, or alliances. Her mastery of words had always been useful, helpful, special. Before coming to Pegasus, though, it had never been extraordinary; it had never saved so many lives, done so much good. General O'Neill had idly mentioned it to be her superpower once. At the time, she hadn't thought much about it. Now she realized he saw much more than he let on.
She smiled and began the latest of negotiations with another people.
Elizabeth Weir; superwoman.
