Title: The Quartermaster's Gift
Author: Adina_Atl
Pairing: Gen
Rating: G
Spoilers: First season, maybe.
Disclaimer: Not mine.

Summary: Few people understand logistics.

Only the quartermaster knew how much flour or beans they brought from Earth. It never ran out, so no one paid any attention. Coffee and chocolate were rationed, carefully counted; they were gone in due time. But if he found an extra case of sugar or MREs in a supply room no one remembered checking, who would ever notice?

Few people did the math: two hundred people, one to three pounds of food a day depending on whether it was dried or fresh. A hundred tons of food and other supplies, all passed through the iris in thirty-eight minutes?

Right.

That's wonderful! I sometimes wonder how the expedition was able to bring enough food to last a week when they first went Atlantis.

As the WWII general (or admiral depending on your source) said, "I don't know what this 'logistics' is, but I want some of it." Beans and bullets both seem magically replenishing in the Pegasus Galaxy. Nice call.

Wonderfully done! And really, it explains so much about all the quatermaster's or supply techs I've ever known. They're all a special bunch. :)

Ahaha, of course. :)

Thanks for pointing this out. I always thought they had all their supplies magically shrunk or something ;)
