Well... "happy" isn't the right word, I don't think. I wasn't happy. Yours is not a happy story.
And yet -- the fact that I have very little tolerance for this sort of dystopian setting (unless it's so bad I can laugh it off) shouldn't be taken as a value judgment on the writing; indeed, if it hadn't been so well-written I wouldn't have hated the way it made me feel so much.
Actually, to sum up what I do think of your story: Harriet Beecher Stowe would have been proud.
