Good fic, you covered a lot of topics and devellopments in a relatively short story. Nice balance of story and politics.

It toke me some time before I realized they were on a parral Earth and not on an alien planet, so I was shocked and impressed when I did.

Even though I only tried RodneyTeyla after I ran out of the few Rodney/Sam stories I could find, they've been surprisingly interesting so far and I'm looking forward to the next part.

By Science. He had always believed that in science there was truth, and in mathematics there were no lies.
Well, there are lies, big lies, and then thre is statistics. It doesn't make the numbers any less accurate, just the explanation that is given to them. Rodney ought to know that :-P

She’d seen Rodney McKay work miracles on less, and for the first month or so tending to his needs had been…not easy, but bearable. She was giving him the time to figure out how to get them out of this nightmare, and she had scarcely begrudged it.
No wonder she is disappointed - dispite all his brillians and bossing around, I've never seen Rodney active or successfull in political powerplay, he's too naive - it did not really come as a surprise that Teyla had already better connections to get them out.

Its price had been brought down by the amount of time the camera spent looking at it – not that anyone had explicitly said as much.
I realize you need this for the story, but is there any reason why they can not simply close the curtains or move to another place?

“Then why,” she had replied kindly, “are almost all the people in your team white men?”

While I usually pay little attention to that, I've too noticed that the Stargate writers seems to save it's coulors for their aliens (Vala being the first major white alien). Although I have to admit I didn't notice it untill they replaced Ford with Ronon.
I think it's a shame, as it would have worked just as well (if not better) if Sheppard had been overdosed, and Ford had been promoted to SGA1-leader. -they might even not have wrtten Sheppard out of the series.
Although I am surprised it was Telya who noticed, as SGA is a lot more diverse then SG1 used to be, and does not know what percentage of the earth population is white. (okay, she does in your fic, didn;t remember that when I thought it.)
