Coolness! I liked Rodney's dreams about drowning - just the sort of things he'd be thinking after the realization of certain doom set in. I wonder if you're inclined to continue this with a sequel that explores Rodney's new ability?
The Stars My Destination was one of the first sci-fi books I ever read, and it remains one of my favorites. Heh, I was half-expecting a poem - "Meredith's my name, Atlantis is my nation. Science is my dwelling place, the sea my destination." Ok, sorry, that was bad, but I couldn't help myself. :p
