John really didn't have a lot to do as he waited for the marines to rappel down, clean out the hole, measure the depth and the distance to where they thought the roof was, and set the next charge. He'd come out today only because Rodney was starting to get a complex as this would have been the fifth mission and John hadn't yet visited. Nevermind that there had been and would be dozens of projects Rodney ran off-world that John had never graced with his presence; that he had been there for the conception and had no interest in how it turned out deeply offended Rodney to the point that it was starting to affect their team missions.

I keep forgetting how much I like this one. I think its because I keep confusing the title for something else...

I really like your Cadman, both how you've portrayed her relationship with McKay and her duties as a marine. What you've done with her in your little 'verse is believable and functional - I just wish both the show and the real-life military had given you a little more room to play with her character.

Well, her limitations are probably my fault; I'm sure the writers would have thought nothing of throwing her into all sorts of situations. I've got nothing against the no-women-in-infantry-roles for US troops, but I could have made better use of her.

I really liked the military operations in this. I guess most of your fics would be classed as au, just due to the fact that on the show there seems to be no policy against women (including Earth service women) in combat situations, but this is an interesting take on what could be, if the real life military sexism was present on Atlantis.

Well, if that's the case, then I guess they're AU because they attempt to use common sense and some attempt at basic intelligence, but take from it what you will.
