ADMIN: The Comfort Challenge

So you know, we've had some bad news since our last challenge. So kristen999 suggested we console ourselves by holding an SGA Comfort Challenge, to wit: Snuggles, warm blankets, hugs, group hugs, physical, emotional..any type of comfort. Hurt optional; comfort MANDATORY.

Today's August 31; stories will be due on September 14 at midnight eastern.

Y'know, since school is coming up (or had already started) for some of us, why don't we do a school challenge for the next prompt? It can be remembering school days, set during school, or maybe even a high school reunion. I know I'd have a lot of fun seeing how people interact with the Expedition members at their reunions. "So, what have you been up to since we last saw each other?" "Um, I can't tell you. It's classified." Yeah, that'd be a great icebreaker right there, huh?

I have a suggestion for a challenge - a Corridor Challenge. There has to be a corridor somewhere in the fic. How many ep's can you name that doesn't have a corridor in it? They are either running/chasing/shooting down one, having conversations in one, or find doors that won't open in one, or even doing first aid. The opportunities are endless.

I had an idea for a challenge, and I so totally had this idea before it was said in last night's episode, I swear!

Anyway, I thought a Mad Science challenge might be fun.

We've seen so many weird and wacky things in Pegasus - An Ascension Machine that gives you super powers before it kills you, a virus that turns you into a bug, a personal shield, flying darkness (just to name a few that are in canon). What other fun things have the Ancients, or the Replicators, or anyone else left lying around to bite Team Sheppard and Atlantis in their six?

Here's thought: a Literary challenge. It could involve mashups, sendups or just the relationship between characters and great books (John vs. War and Peace, or Rodney and Moby Dick). Or Radek randomly starts to declame Kafka and Neruda, or Ronon explains what the Great Satedan Novel is like. Or maybe somebody in the city starts a second career as a novelist...

Any chance this challenge will be extended for a few days? *crosses fingers* I've had a fic written for a week, but LJ cut hasn't been working for some people.... including me. I guess they're working on the problem, but it hasn't been fixed yet and I don't know how much longer it might be.

I'd love an Inappropriate Soundtrack challenge... where authors either had to work with unusual songs suggested by people, or where they could use their own highly unsuitable music (and here I am thinking of Muppet music, and Walking Like Egyptians, and anything by the deZurik Sisters (chicken imitators extrodinaire)....) Viva la badsongfic!

We need a kidfic challenge!

Maybe it's backstory, and we find out all about the tragic (or magical) moments that made the team who they are. Maybe Rodney was forced to go to clown school one summer in a misguided attempt to form his character. Or maybe Ronon was an astronomy nut and his dad used to take him on camping trips so they could stargaze into the wee small hours.

Or maybe it's a de-aging machine, and we get to see mini Teyla crawling through the airducts with her sticks to singlehandedly save Atlantis from the threat of the week. Because she was awesome and competant, even as a wee thing.

Or maybe John and Rodney find that gestation unit. You know the one -- they accidentally touch it an end up instant parents. Or maybe that's not how it goes. Maybe Rodney and Sam are the ones who touch it, and the Atlantis team end up having to raise a genius. Can't you just picture it?

Fun times, people. Fun times.

So can we have that now? *puppydog eyes*

The LJ cut issues still have not been resolved. *heavy sigh* I've got a fic I really want to post, but the non-working cut makes it.... a problem.
