ADMIN: The Wish Fulfillment Challenge

rhymer23 requested a wish fulfillment challenge, as follows:

We can have happy, fluffy stories in which characters achieve something they've always longed for. We can encounter Ancient genies in Ancient bottles, with all the alarming wackiness that typically ensues when unwisely-phrased wishes meet literal-minded genies. Or we, the authors, can indulge our deepest wishes. We would be allowed - nay, encouraged - to bring out all our guiltiest fiction pleasures, and write those shamelessly self-indulgent pieces we'd normally never dare to. Authors could even volunteer to grant a reader's most guilty and indulgent fiction wish. Yes, I know this will come just after all the holiday fic exchanges, but spreading happiness and granting wishes is a Good Thing - well, unless you're a mischievous and literal-minded genie.

You heard the lady: be a genie. Grant the characters' wishes--or just indulge yourself. And hey, to make it more interesting: if you have a particular fanfic wish you want from someone else, feel free to post it in the comments of this post: no guarantees, but writers, keep your eye out for other people's wishes, ok? You might be able to grant someone's wish. (Remember that art and vids are also welcome as challenge responses.)

I'll have to try and wake up the plot bunnies for this challenge (though I've already written and posted a genie fic last year!) - and keep an eye on the comments here, see if that helps to encourage the lazy little pain in the necks!

For myself, I would love a Gen story exploring Rodney and Teyla's friendship and how it develops over the seasons. Either non-POV (if you can manage it), or Rodney and Teyla's POVs, or just Rodney's POV - or perhaps John and/or Ronon's POV? We don't see much of their friendship in canon, I'd like to see more of it in fic - though I'm slightly disadvantaged as I prefer male POVs for some reason to females *shrugs*.

No worries if no one picks this up!

Can I also add that I've been hankering for some Gen Daniel and Rodney adventure (with or without other characters from either stargate show). First Contact/Lost Tribe is to blame! I loved their snark and tit-for-tat-ness! But also their begruding respect for each other, I think (or did I just imagine that?!). Preferably not Daniel disliking Rodney (or vice versa) - that's not how it seemed to be at the end of the two-parter. Oh, and yes, definitely set after the two-parter, please...

This is a really guilty (weird, strange, totally hinky) pleasure and I don't even know where it came from. Your challenge inspired me. I just had a sudden thought of John being expectant, and Ronon the doting protective hubby/father to be, getting John whatever his craving may be for, and rubbing his feet/back whatever. OMG I'm going to hell. But I'd still love to read this fic if anyone thinks they can make something of this request! Wolfy wuv.

I love courting/wooing fics! They take their time, and it's full of sweetness and hilarity ♥. John and Rodney can both be aware of what's going, slowly become aware over time or through other characters' intervention/comments, or one courting and the other oblivious til the ending.

Either way, I like the sound of this challenge.

I'm going to fulfil 3 wishes with 1000 words each, so come up with three nice prompts. (nothing what is mentioned above already)

Please think of the following when wishing: I'll write Gen, but no het (unless it's a really tempting prompt). I'll write slash, but only Mcshep (And Ronon/? on occasion). And I'm completely ignoring season 5, so no prompts in relation to any of these episodes.

I'd love a McShep fic where John's being a total asshole to Rodney, he might not realise it himself and is totally guilt-ridden when he realises what he's been doing, or maybe he has issues with being gay and takes it out on Rodney, and eventually Rodney gets fed up and finds someone else, and John sees the error of his ways and decides to win Rodney back, and then there's a happy ending :>

Hee, as soon as I read this, I instantly pictured Rodney in black tie at something like the "Brainstorm" event, and John coming up to him (also in a tux, of course) while working the room, and introducing himself, saying, "I'm with Make a Wish."

Rodney, looking him up and down: "Huh. Really? That's fantastic. What's the going rate?"

John raises an eyebrow; Sam Carter digs an elbow into Rodney's ribs.

Rodney: "What?"

Carter: "Make a Wish Foundation."

Rodney: "--Oh, the thing for kids." And off her glare, "What?! A lot of things have that kind of name!"

And Carter facepalms, because that's just way more than she ever wanted to know about Rodney's favorite escort services.

Well, since this is all about wish-fulfillment... ;) I would really love to read a totally Gen, below R-rated, with nothing sexual - non-con or consensual - slave-fic with Sheppard as a very abused slave. I once had an idea in which an amnesiac Sheppard, after being rescued, keeps trying to act like Rodney's slave. Rodney finds it amusing for a while, then not so amusing, then utterly sad and tries to help John remember who he is. Another idea I had was an AU in which Rodney is a prince given a servent (John) as a gag birthday present (because no one likes Rodney). Rodney, however, detests slavery and he and Sheppard end up becoming good friends. But as with most of my ideas as of late, neither really panned out into something I wanted to write (smacks muses). Or you can come up with you own idea, so long as it involves John a slave, lots of abuse, and extra bonus points for angst and aftermath with lots of healing and team comfort ;).

An idea has been taking shape in my mind during the last few days, and I think I might be able to attempt to grant your wish. I can't promise it'll be short enough done in time for the end of the challenge, though. It's an idea (an AU one) that has elements of both your ideas, but which isn't entirely either of them. I've just written page one... though these things don't always work out, so I can't a hundred percent promise that it'll be something I can complete, but I do hope so.

Also I think I'd like to see the scene where John explains to Rodney (who started doing it without asking - after sex? before sex?) that people who get close to him somehow always wanna put their hands in his hair, but outside of sex he doesn't like it so much; it feels ... weird. But Rodney extols the pleasures of head scritches, and tells him how of course people want to touch John's hair! It looks made for it! And then John gets that it means Rodney'd love his own head scritched, and he gives Rodney lots of scritches and then they have sex again the end.

I'm willing to grant someone (or someones) the wish of having an AU they've always wanted to see done but haven't yet. I've only a few guidelines, though: Keep it below R and little to no sex scenes. Other than that, go wild. I'll try my best.

There's this pirate AU idea, I don't know if you would be interested or not.

It's set on an AU-Earth/planet, with continents/countries like Genii, Olesia, Hoff etc. Rodney is kidnapped/exiled and ends up on a Genii pirate ship heading to Genii to become a slave (chains, lower decks, cold, wet, bruised - aww, poor Rodney!). Sheppard and crew attack Genii ship (they're sort of pirates too, but good pirates, only attacking the real baddies of the seas - like the Genii!), and in the process end up rescuing Rodney.

Um, that's it. You can play with it, add in some technology or not, whichever characters you want, whichever races (do the Wraith exist? If so, what form do they take?) you want. You know, have fun with it! @Cos that's as far as any plot bunny went with me before giving up!

Just, could you keep it Gen please? For me that also means no non-con, though I have found I can handle low-key het relationships if they're not the main focus of the story (and non-canon ones are okay in AU)!

DUDE. Seriously? I would *love* a John/Cameron fic if you were going to write one. Let me throw out some prompts, see what sticks?

- John meets Cam's family or Cam meets John's family (hilarity or angst ensues, depending on the family)
- John/Cam sex plus dress blues/dog-tags/other AF designators
- John/Cam in their Academy days
- John visiting Earth or Cam visiting Atlantis, plus their respective teams
- John/Cam Vegas AU (or any other AU established in canon)

I just mentioned this to a friend and realized it could also go here: I always wanted Teyla and/or Ronon to lose her/his temper a little and bop John and Rodney upside the head for making constant pop culture references that neither Teyla nor Ronon could possibly understand.

And much as I love the fanon convention of team movie nights, why is it always about sharing Earth culture with Teyla and Ronon? Why not a team night where Ronon recites Satedan epic poetry, or shows them how to finger-knit a sweater out of twine, or Teyla teaches them how to recognize major Pegasus cultures' body language, or to hew and carve their own bantos rods?

Hm, worth a try. I'd love to read a story where Sam and Rodney have to work together to solve some hideously complex physics problem. Maybe set in the early years, when their relationship was on the strained side.

Gen or ship... maybe even bring Radek or Daniel into the mix... As long as it has Sam and Rodney doing sciency stuff and squabbling a lot, I'd be ecstatic.
