There's really no way to preface this story other than with something [info]astolat said while it was half past one and I was deliriously trying to finish it before two AM two nights ago, and that was, "The meta for this is hilarious--we're all sad that John's not pregnant, and the whole story is predicated on the fact that John's not pregnant."
