Shark! Challenge

Summary: Star-gazing.
The air was crisp and cold, but Teyla's back was warm against his own, and Rodney was a strangely comforting bulk against his shins. John was pretty sure Ronon was lying with his head in Teyla's lap, but he wasn't sure. John kept looking at the star-filled sky, as much in wonder as to give them privacy. Not that either seemed to mind their presence, Ronon murmuring something, and Teyla answering, voices low and intimate.
They had not saved the universe today, or a world, or even Atlantis. But they had saved a life, almost by accident, on a simple trade mission. John and Teyla had waded into the surf zone to pull a lone E'yali girl right out of the teeth of the 'freakin' mutant shark,' to use Rodney's phrase, and Rodney had managed to stop the bleeding, while Ronon had loped back to the E'yali town in that crazy greyhound way that belied his heavily-muscled frame. One little girl was alive, because of them. Had not lost her leg, because of them. And maybe it wouldn't do a damn thing in the end to stop the Wraith, or charge a ZPM, or bring back dead and missing friends.
But it was important, saving this one life on this one minor planet. The father of the girl they had saved had broken down, sobbed as though she had been lost, but he'd looked at them with something like worship in his eyes, saying 'thank you' over and over. It made John glad he'd flipped a coin and taken a chance and stepped through a stargate.
The warmth of his team around him soothed the ache of Ford's loss, of so much death around him and at his hands. Soothed the guilt of Sumner and waking the Wraith, and seeing their scientists worn thin and hard by the Pegasus galaxy.
"It's all new," Rodney whispered.
John leaned over to rest a hand on Rodney's shoulder. "Hmmm?"
"The constellations. Every time I see the stars here, I expect to see Orion and Pleiades and the Big Dipper. But it's all new. It's beautiful."
"Yeah, it is." John tightened his grip on Rodney's shoulder and when Rodney rested his hand over John's, it felt new and beautiful and right.

That was a lovely, elegant description. Nicely done. The tone seemed just right.
