Excerpt:

Object is roughly spherical; well, oblong to be precise, two m. in length. Emitting a low hum, barely audible. Return to lab for testing for–

Rodney peered at the Ancient device. He frowned as the pitch and volume of the sound increased, bordering on shrill. He continued tapping away on his PDA, pausing to make a quick note in Zelenka's notebook to save himself the trouble of emailing him later.

--scan for subsonic frequency emissions.

The pitch hit high 'C' and Rodney winced, tapping the device to turn it off. Then all the lights cut out, leaving only a faint greenish glow and he swore under his breath. "Could someone get those?" Rodney yelled.

There was no response from his team.

"The lights?! C'mon, man working here. You people are the help, so help." Exasperated, Rodney rolled his head and turned. . .

To find all of his equipment gone. His six-man science team missing. And a fine layer of dust once again all over the entire Ancient lab. The window that just a minute ago had overlooked the southeast pier and lapping blue waves, was now dimly green. And deep underwater.

Dismay slid across Rodney's face.

"Oh. This is not good."

Aww, wow, I love time-travel stories and this one's great.

I love the idea of Rodney leaving something for John to remember him. But the idea of Rodney all alone for that long makes me feel so sorry for him!

Oh, very nice. I liked it a lot. Poor Rodney, alone in the past. But now he's back. Woo hoo! Thank you for writing and sharing it.

Aw, that's sweet. I can imagine Rodney quite enjoying himself at first, but not being able to use anything, just in case, must have been torture!

I really enjoyed this. And I'm very glad there was a happy ending. I wasn't sure there was going to be. I thought of 'Epiphany' when I read this, and how Rodney's experience could lead to greater understanding of what John went through, and vice versa. Thanks.

Wow. This was really good. I love Time Travel stories. Poor Rodney stuck there all alone, composing and writing love letters to John.

I wonder if John ever got to hear the music.

Fantastic work, really!

grr, lj ate my first reply.

I really liked this, both the very well voiced Rodney's diary snippets and the imagery of him, all alone and composing his symphony.

Very nice

Two of my all time favorite things (all right the white chocolate peanut butter popcorn combo of Dale and Thomas is still number one) would be be my OTP in the Stargate Atlantis fandom written by you. I just loved it needless to say. :-D

Great story. Poor Rodney. As much as he loves to talk you just know it was hell for him to be all alone and fearful of using too much energy so that he couldn't even do his beloved research. I think you really caught the hidden depths of Rodney's inner selflessness when he was willing to die alone in past-Atlantis rather than chance causing a fatal power drain in the future.

Ooo, cool idea. I enjoyed this. I liked how fast John & Rodney figured out what was going on--after that much time in the Pegasus galaxy, you probably don't waste a lot of time on rational explanations.

Niiiiice. Very, very nicely done. Not overly dramatic nor overly detailed with emotions running amok. Very well paced. Excellent job with the characters, and the journal entries were extremely well done.

(And poor, exhausted Zelenka.)

Thank you very much for writing and posting this!

Is it bad that I want more? 'Cause I want more. I just love this.

Also, like [livejournal.com profile] 20thcenturyvole said before, the whole neardeathconfession!kink was hit very nicely.

Poor Rodney! I wonder how long he was in the past? Sure, 17 hours on *this* end, but... Too bad that John never got to hear Rodney's music. I wonder if he ever will, or if Rodney will squirrel it away somewhere outside of the database and delete all public copies?

I liked the time travelling and that Rodney hid the papers in John's room. The moment when John almost hands them over to the science team was priceless. *g* Nicely done.

Oh wow! I think I've lost my descriptive words for the moment so let's just go with it's really really good!

I *love* the angsty-sweet image of Rodney sitting alone in an empty Atlantis composing a piano concerto for John. It put tears in my eyes. Thanks for the happy ending;)
