Redressing the Balance
The door slides open to reveal him standing by the bed, clutching the picture of his parents. He gives her a warm smile, and it is enough to entice her further into the room. She knows that she doesn't have much time; the security patrols will soon discover the damaged cameras.
“Teyla, what can I do for you?”
She hesitates, wondering if the satisfaction of what she is about to do will outweigh the consequences that she will undoubtedly face. He senses her uncertainty and approaches slowly.
“There's something that you're not telling me, isn't there? You haven't told me the full story.”
“No. I haven't.”
His eyes search her face, trying to gain some clue of what she is hiding. He lets out an exasperated sigh before stalking towards the window. “Why do I have guards following me everywhere? Why does Ronon hate me so much? How can I understand Wraith but have no memory of learning it? Why won't you tell me the truth?”
Turning towards her, she feels a shiver run down her spine as the moonlight gives one side of his face an eerie blue tint. The timely reminder of who he was and who he will always be stiffens her resolve.
“Ronon dislikes you because of me. The guards watch over you for your own protection, for your life has been threatened many times. By Ronon. And you and I learnt the Wraith language together.”
Her heart leaps when she sees realisation dawn, content in the knowledge that her plan will succeed. “You,” he whispers. She smiles wryly as his eyes explore the length of her body, as if appreciating her for the first time. She kicks of her shoes as she approaches him, reaching to pull her top over her head when she comes to a halt inches from his tense body. The enamoured expression never leaves his face, and she is confident that he hasn't heard the clatter of metal hitting the floor along with her trousers. As she reaches for his neck to pull him closer, she subtly kicks her clothing into a neat pile, a precaution in case the knife has fallen out of her pocket and is in full view.
The Wraith have taken so much from her during her lifetime. It is time to take something back.
