Title: A Good Soldier
Author: Pyro
Rating:Teen
Challenge: Darkside
Genre: Gen
Disclaimer: I do not own the characters herein. I'm just playing with them.
Notes: This is my first time to respond to a challenge, so if I goof it up, please forgive me. Criticizim is always helpful.
Character: John Sheppard
No matter what anyone said, he was always a good soldier. Ok, so he sometimes rushed into situations where he should have at least had a plan. To be fair, most times, a plan wouldn't have done him any good anyway. He was mostly well-liked by the Atlantis expedition. He was friendly to the scientists, and good with the men stationed there. What everyone seemed to forget was that he was a combat veteran. He was a good soldier.
In the aftermath of Col. Caldwell's Go'ald removal, though, the scientists were walking softly around him. They shot him worried, sometimes frightened looks. Word had gotten out about how he was ready, willing and about to torture Kavanaugh for information. That he would have gone over Dr. Weir's head when she didn't condone it. Even McKay was subdued around him.
What none of them understood was that he was a good soldier. His job was to protect Atlantis and the people in her. No matter what. Even if they condemned and scorned him for it the next day. Because he was a good soldier.
