SUMMARY: Written for sga_flashfic Masks and Masquerade challenge.

On Massaru the traders all wore masks, simple wooden faces carved by hand. At their insistence the Lanteans did the same.

Rodney complained about splinters, allergies, and argued that people who wore masks had something to hide.

Ronon sat silently; he knew a mask protected what you didn't want to lose.

Teyla bargained in soft unhurried tones, because the masks were all the same, making the foreign familiar and unifying.

And John? John had asked Verru and knew the masks were of Kelihan, God-King long dead, cursed so that he could not lie. So he just smiled and played along.

Glad you liked it! ^_^ It was fun trying to figure out how each of them would see the masks; as a way to decieve, protect, unify, and emmulate. Well, okay the emmulate wasn't John's idea, but at least he had the sense to ask. ^_~ *grin*

Oh, yeah, your John always has a secret. He's ... playing a part. Always dark and creepy and a little bit slimey. I dunno what it is, you play him really secrative and like he has this big great other life, this dark side. Like he already knew about Atlantis, or is really manipulative, or something.

I love it. I always hope you'll give more away, but you're such a tease...
