To celebrate the return of SGA to television, and the return of SGA fandom being all back together, I give you, "The Return Challenge." The germ of this challenge stems from [livejournal.com profile] gemmi999's desire for a post-Atlantis challenge, where the characters have to go back to earth and try to make new lives for themselves, which sounds to me an awful lot like what happens in "The Return." But there's so much more potential for stories in that ep: the goodbyes we didn't see! The hellos we didn't see! John redecorating his room after the replicators are gone! (thank you, Cin!) Teyla and Ronon having to go on, post-Atlantis. What did the Ancients do to the city; worse, what did the Replicators do? Let's have a little communal processing of canon, what do you say?

It's April 16th by my watch; stories will be due April 30th at midnight.

how about a movie challenge? it could either be them going to the movies, watching dvds, or maybe fics based on movies?

or, also, a book challenge - reading, discussing, borrowing, based on?

This sounds interesting. Lots of scope too. I remember reading a story based on the film Shane (no, can't remember off hand who wrote it or where to find it, but if people ask I'll look it up). It was very well written and about the only time I didn't mind it being a death fic (i.e. John's the only one left) or the fact that there was no Rodney in it (I'm a 110% Rodney-fan and admit it freely!). Sorry, rambling again...

Anyway, I'm sure there could be some fun and games with this challenge.

I only thought of it because of [livejournal.com profile] lavvyan's recent While You Were Sleeping fic, and my own Pretty Woman fic, lol :) Also, I just love fics where they're snuggling together in the dark watching movies :D

Hi! This is my first time responding to a challenge. I know that the fics have to be posted here only for the duration, but am I allowed to post links in my LJ and other comms to my posted fic here?

Thanks!

Well, I had an idea bouncing around my head about a story set post-The Return, and Jack's view of McKay and other such things. I got this idea the night before you posted the challenge - how weird is that - and decided to try and write it.

Only it's already about 2,400 words so far, and I have a couple of paragraphs to add to it...is it too big to post here? I might be able to split it into two or three parts if that would help, but I know there is a word limit and that I am well over it.

The story just wouldn't stop growing! I'm blaming it on the plot bunnies!

Don't mind if you say no, but I would like to post it here if allowed.

Thanks

I got thrown -- more accurately, it snuck up and bludgeoned me -- an idea for a story that also deals with having to go back to Earth and with trying to get back HOME, but as the idea goes it doesn't have any direct connection to the episode.

Probably not appropriate, right?

So, what if the story I'm writing has turned into a monster. I mean, I already have close to 12,000 words and it isn't slowing down. If I don't finish it by the deadline, does that mean I can't post it here? Do I have to wait for an Amnesty challenge to post it?

I honestly don't know. I'm about 2/3rds of the way done with my story. It's cool though--I'll wait til another challenge comes up so I can post it then.
