[livejournal.com profile] audreysmagic proposed a "Backstory Challenge," to wit: "something from someone's past..... Radek behind the Iron Curtain, Rodney blowing up school labs by 8, John's disastrous relationship history, Teyla's dad, Ronon's life on Sateda, anything!" [livejournal.com profile] quasar273 seconded this, and added that she'd love to see some formative events: "Teyla getting her first lessons in stick-fighting or interplanetary trade with her father; twelve-year-old Ronon being scolded by a mother already shorter than he is for playing with toy guns; Rodney as Little Man Tate in one of those math-prodigy competitions; John leaving the ground behind for the very first time in a commercial jet or his father's friend's small plane or whatever. Elizabeth's first puppy? Carson and his mum? Or maybe childhood traumas big or small, or the first steps into adult independence -- any of that stuff."

Give us the stories behind your stories; it's time to delve!

Today's June 21; stories will be due July 5th at midnight eastern.

I love this idea, but it's a little more narrow than I think the best flashfic challenges usually are. What about a Liberty challenge in general? (Cake or death!)

OMIGOD, GREAT MINDS REALLY DO THINK ALIKE!!!

I also announce that I didn't plagiarize you, cos I swear, NOBODY WE BOTH KNOW TOLD ME ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR STORY and you & I have never discussed anything even remotely like this at any time.

Seriously, if you want, why don't we just delete my comment??

It's GONE... sorry it took so long for me to delete it, I didn't get home until just now and I did it straightaway.

TAKE THE LINE. It will make me feel better.

Seriously can't wait to see ya! I'm assuming "She Who You Adore" can alternately be referred to as "Cranky Little Missy"?

There's surprisingly little in the way of Revolt-and-Secede SGA stories out there, and I'm not sure why. I'm not having a problem seeing the people in power at the SGC and other oversight committees as the bad guys those days. Canonical AU Landry as a manipulative, borderline evil US Pres didn't surprise me at all; that man is no George Hammond!

Totally OT

John's disastrous relationship history, Teyla's dad,

My just-awake-eyes read that as "John's disastrous relationship history with Teyla's dad", and then my brain shut down.

Okayyy I've checked the rules seriously but I still have to annoy you with a question. ^^

Are fanart/chibi comics allowed ? (I suppose the answer would be "no" as the community's name is flashFIC but I saw this post (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/566372.html) so I needed to ask.)

This sounds like a good challenge, now I just need to get my brain in gear... Hmm...

And I was wondering if anyone fancied a hobby challenge? You know, hobby(ies) obessesions, hobby horses; past, present, future, AU, whatever! Maybe something they used to be into but not anymore, something they are being introduced to by someone else, something to be embarrassed about (or not), oh, you get the drift. Anything to do with hobbies or obessions and the like...

Just a thought.

Now, my little plot bunny friends/fiends, I need a back story...or two...

The hobby one sounds interesting. I was going to ask if we could have some kind of strange new worlds challenge? I'd like to be reminded that Atlantis is in a galaxy. The last several challenges have been so mundane.

What would you say to a Classic Sci-Fi challenge? It could be taken a lot of ways, especially with a flexible definition of "classic." John and Rodney are just the type to be fandoms of Clarke and Asimov, we have canonical Kirk!John, or people could do SGA remixes of classic stories/films/shows. (SGA does Red Dwarf? ::brain explodes::)
