Yes, it's that time of the year again--bring out all those unfinished flashfics, or those ideas you wanted to write but never got around to, because you were about to write for the "Fight or Flight" challenge but then your grandmother's gout flared up and you had to go and be helpful!

Yes, you can write for any of our previous challenges!!--there is a full list of them in the the tags column on our front page, and another list can be found here, in our memories. Some of you recently were asking me about Pirate stories and--er, extremely porny stories about multiple versions of our heroes and heroines! Well, we have the Criminal Challenge and Doppleganger Challenge for you guys. Skirts! Documentation! Culture Clash! Earthside! Men and Machines/Cyborgs! Mission Report! HARLEQUIN! POST SECRET! DARK SIDE! SEKRET SUPERPOWER--oh, really, a veritable cornucopia of inspiration, and it's yours for the holiday season. Close out 2007 with a bang.

Please remember to put the story's Title and Author in the subject line, i.e. My So Called Life, By Speranza, and then if you could, please mark the story both with the Amnesty 2007 challenge tag AND the tag for whatever challenge you're answering. That way it gets--er, crossindexed, and my literary anality is satisfied. \o/

Stories will be due New Year's Day; new challenges will be offered for the new year starting January 2.

(how lovely is your literary anality? what's the proper word order there? *sudden doubt!* *headache!*)

welllll I figure, it's useful in here (tagging and ordering fics in the comm) and it's also what fuel such works as Victors, so. :D

Oh yay! Amnesty! I wanna write a flashfic and free time and challenges I wanna do never seem to collide. Of course, I said that last year when you posted Amnesty but somehow I remain a flashfic virgin. So this year I share my ambition in hopes it will embarrass me into remembering to do it. :D

Um, is it okay if we have an idea for one of them now that we didn't then to write and post it? I have one in notes stage only, but can't remember if I wrote them before or after the challenge was issued. *sigh*

Can I suggest an Ancient History challenge? There could be stories about the Ancients, or stories about history, or stories about ancient (Ancient) history.

YAYS! I really should participate this year.

If you're taking suggestions for next year, I'd love to see a Second Time (or Second Chances) Challenge. I'm thinking time loops, episode rewrites, second time sex (JUST AS HOT AS FIRST TIME Y/Y?), return of one-shot characters from seasons past...

Ooh, yay, Amnesty time! Because I wanted to do the Stuck challenge, but the whole ordeal of trying to get the flypaper sticky stuff off the damn cat without shaving half the fur off of her took up all the time I had set aside for writing.

No, I'm serious. It took nail polish remover to get the sticky off the cat (yes, I gave her a bath afterwards to wash the nail polish remover off her fur).

What motivation the damn cat had for sitting on the flypaper that fell on the floor, I don't dare to ask. I'm just hoping writing some nice McShep porn will take my mind off the scratches on my arms.

I've been waiting for this all year! Somehow, I always forget to check the comm until a day or two before everything's due and I miss the deadline.

Now, if I can only get them all done in time!

Hey, Ces, can we have a "Da Feet" challenge?

Y'know, all about da feet.

The gang can beat feet, stick a sock in it, put a foot in their mouth, put their feet up on the table, put on their dancing shoes, hotfoot it, turn on their heel, stomp on things, kick 'em in the keester, play footsie, play football, be footloose & fancy free, run a footrace, walk a mile in someone else's shoes, march to the sound of a different drummer, get crazylegs, get a foot rub, complain about their aching feet, stand on tiptoe, tread water, kick a field goal, knock boots, stand toe-to-toe, and in general, hoof it.

Or even let's go with the puns: they can suffer a "defeat" (or make someone else suffer one), moan about feeling sad & defeated, enjoy the thrill of victory or the agony of da feet….

What if the title for stories and artwork were fixed -- with no additions or changes allowed. (This title could literally be 'Fixed'. Or, since I've had the phrase 'World Needs Turning' stuck in my head for a while, God knows why, and because it's vague enough and could be taken literally or not, I'd suggest that.) Too weird?

And, um, can I ask a general question? Can you (or anyone?) point me to a place where I can find a native-speaking beta for my SGA fic? I seem to remember finding that place once, but naturally I was too stupid to bookmark. ETA: Found it again, by accident.

Yes, that's the general idea. And this would be the only restriction, like: Write a story titled 'World Needs Turning'.

I didn't think of that... Why didn't I think of that? *shakes head*
Oh hell, why not a challenge for everyone involved, not only the writers? :-) To make it a little easier, authors could be asked to add the story count to the title, starting with 1 for the first posted story.

So I have a challenge suggestion...

Got to thinking about those "Where are They Now?" segments on tv, and it wouldn't leave me alone. Where are the Atlantis folks twenty years from now? Where were they twenty years ago, and what do their acquaintances/loved ones think when they see them or hear about them - or do they think about them, and wonder? Where are John and Rodney, or Elizabeth and Teyla, now that they've taken a new step in their relationship? Where are all those characters we haven't seen since Season 2? Miko? Ford? Stackhouse? Aliens Atlantis has traded with? Bad guys the Lanteans shot but didn't kill? And where is Rodney, right this second? In transit at Midway? On public transit in Vancouver? On the new Prime Minister's transition team?

Where are They Now? I want to know!

Questions about posting, if you please.

Hello. :)

1) The fic I'd like to post to this is over 18k words. I'm just verifying that it'll be okay to post a link from here to the leahwoof LJ, rather than posting it to sga_flashfic in several parts?

2) The challenge response fic is a prequel/missing scenes thing for "The Soul and the Company Store", and will be just about incomprehensible if you haven't read that other fic first. Is it okay, therefore, to post the challenge response fic here?

Thank you!

Leah

Your gleeful hand-rubbing made me happy. Thank you. :)

I'll post it here in chunks, then, with the link to the first fic. And I understand why you'd want me to.

Thank you very much for the help! I'll try to have the fic up early this afternoon.

All the best,

Leah

I'm sure someone's suggested it before, but maybe a family challenge?

There's so much that could get covered by this! Siblings, sibling rivalry, relatives vs family, "ohana" = family = no-one gets left behind (thank you for the twee, Disney!), functional and dysfunctional family relationships.

John has a brother, Rodney has a sister, Teyla's fact sheet suggests she had a brother a long time ago, Carson said there were seven people in his family - seven siblings or four siblings, him and parents? Does Ronon have family he's never talked about - and if not, why? What about Teyla's child and its family - the team and her friends in Atlantis as surrogates?

Endless possibilities!
