TITLE: Catching Clouds (or: Bureaucracy meets the Pegasus Galaxy)
FANDOM: Stargate Atlantis
LENGTH/RATING: 100 words, PG-13
PAIRING/WARNINGS: None
SUMMARY: How do you catch a cloud and pin it down? - The Sound of Music.
"I hate multiple choice." Sam stared morosely at the Animal/Mineral/Vegetable checkboxes for 'Alien Lifeform', but the mission report refused to spontaneously reformat.
"Just draw a box that says 'other'," John offered helpfully. "Saves a lot of time."
"Saves you time," Sam snorted, "I have to fix them later."
John chuckled and Sam pointed meaningfully at John's own pile of IOA paperwork. He got back to work with a 'yes ma'm' and an unsubdued smile.
Sam finally checked all three, ignoring bright red instructions. She still hadn't gathered the courage to ask why it included prohibitions against finger-painting and interpretive dance.

Date: 2008-06-06 01:43 am (UTC)So does the prohibitions against finger-painting and interpretive dance only show up on Atlantis paperwork? It just seems like she hadn't seen that before and I think she would have if it was on the milkyway version. I could see John trying to paint a picture of what they saw and Rodney's arm waving and such as he explains could be seen as interpretive dance.

Date: 2008-06-06 12:49 pm (UTC)As for the fingerpainting, I've always assumed Atlantis paperwork is a constantly evolving form of Skippy’s List: The 213 things Skippy is no longer allowed to do in the U.S. Army, just because of the personalities involved. *grin* I'd think on Earth they'd have a harder time getting away with it to start with... ^_~ (Although Jack trying to turn in a report written in Pig Latin and crayon would be amusing...)
