[livejournal.com profile] harriet_spy suggests that: "a 'role reversal' challenge would be cool. Heroes become villains, enemies become allies, the Pegasus galaxy colonizes the Milky Way, subordinates step up to be leaders...there are many possibilities even before you get to the pornographic ones." (Not to mention the bodyswap, *cough*.)

Today is July 26; stories will be due August 9 at midnight eastern.

I usually check for challenges using the admin tag, which is missing from this and the closing post for the Five Things challenge. Thought you'd like to know.

Hey, I had a challenge idea I thought I'd throw out there. How about a "gods and monsters" challenge? Stories about gods, stories about monsters; stories about how blurry the line can be between the two. Stories about religion and mythology and superstition and bogeymen; stories about aging gay film directors and their heterosexual gardeners (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120684/)-- sorry, don't know where that last one came from; stories about the Ancients and the Wraith and which role each species fits and for whom ... There are a lot of way to take this and run in really interesting directions.

Challenge idea... um, maybe

I don't know if writing style counts as a challenge idea, but if so.... how about an all dialogue challenge? No scene setting, etc. Just dialogue.

Or, if that doesn't work, a more traditional proposal -- a talking challenege. Characters talking a lot. Not talking at all. Trying not to talk but failing miserably at it. (I'm thinking of Rodney with that one.) Talking to the shrink. Talking their way out of trouble. Speaking their minds. Could be fun. :)

I'm taking vacation (finally), and it got me to thinking about how stressful it is on Atlantis. Perhaps the next challenge could be a vacation/shore leave/road trip challenge. Something to get everyone out of work mode and into full-on relaxation mode. Maybe they leave Atlantis to go back to Earth or to another planet in the Pegasus galaxy (or the Milky Way galaxy -- maybe a chance to bring SG1 into the mix?). Or perhaps Ancient tech (or some other kind of tech) gives them all the benefit of relaxing in their head without ever having to leave home. Or maybe someone finds a workable time-dilation field.

Something. Anything. Just give them a chance to visit Margaritaville in one fashion or another.
