Yes, it's that time you've been waiting for!--bring out all those unfinished flashfics, or those ideas you wanted to write but never got around to, because you were about to write for the "Kidfic" challenge but then you had to work all that overtime and never got around to it.

Yes, you can write for any of our previous challenges!!--there is a full list of them in the the tags column on our front page, and another list can be found here, in our memories. You can write classic challenges like "Harlequin" or "Documentation" or newer challenges like "Five Things", "Ancient", or "Ways to Die" challenges.

Please remember to put the story's Title and Author in the subject line, i.e. My So Called Life, v=by Speranza, and then if you could, please mark the story both with the Amnesty 2008 challenge tag AND the tag for whatever challenge you're answering. That way it gets crossindexed.

Stories will be due New Year's Day; new challenges will be offered for the new year starting January 2.

Since the show is probably going to end during the run of the next challenge, and most of us will be feeling Very Sad, what about a wish fulfilment challenge? (Or even a wish fulfillment challenge, for those of an American persuasion. ;-P) We can have happy, fluffy stories in which characters achieve something they've always longed for. We can encounter Ancient genies in Ancient bottles, with all the alarming wackiness that typically ensues when unwisely-phrased wishes meet literal-minded genies. Or we, the authors, can indulge our deepest wishes. We would be allowed - nay, encouraged - to bring out all our guiltiest fiction pleasures, and write those shamelessly self-indulgent pieces we'd normally never dare to. Authors could even volunteer to grant a reader's most guilty and indulgent fiction wish. Yes, I know this will come just after all the holiday fic exchanges, but spreading happiness and granting wishes is a Good Thing - well, unless you're a mischievous and literal-minded genie.

And this comment is probably already longer than some fics. Oh dear... This is why I fail at writing flashfics.

I almost suggested an endings challenge, but I thought it would be too depressing at a time when the show was already breaking our hearts. But a happy endings one would be a whole different kettle of fish. Should that perhaps be the challenge for just after the show ends, so people would be free to write happy "after the final curtain falls" fics...?

OHHH. *eyes gods&monsters!fic snippet* The Jan. 1 due date makes this just slightly possible. Regardless, yayay for the fic this will undoubtedly bring.

Are we allowed to tag a fic as answering more than one challenge? 'Cause me and a friend were trying to get something written for the Not Human challenge but never managed it before the deadline and now it fits so many more challenges...

Okay, thank you! I just thought to check ahead so I wasn't breaking one of those superimportant rules that brings the wrath of the mods down on me.

(commenting on a comment, but moving it so as not to confuse the questioner)

Hm; no, I think you should choose one. I mean, lots of stories fit more than one, but we don't want that much cross-referencing. Pick a single challenge and submit for it!

Or ::cough::one could just write haiku for all of them;) ::ponders this year's version::

Excellent. *rubs hands* I have this bit of half-finished fanart that was still looking for a home. Let's see if I can find a fitting niche...

Tani would like to suggest a penguin challenge, for the sake of seeing what would happen if Atlantis was overrun by penguins. ^^ Or maybe everyone decided to convert to Linux. Or something.

-bricked greatly-

I also think the idea of a challenge where all of the characters are turned into something other than their normal selves, i.e. Girl Scouts, would be an interesting idea, albeit also an incredibly stupid one. :D

Any chance for a little more ::cough:: amnesty? I may be done today, but another day or so would be a big relief.
