We've had various requests for a crossover or fusion challenge, but [livejournal.com profile] losyark came up with the best, most exciting formulation, IMO, because it includes: "Crossovers, AUs, ARs, Fusions, and Meta! In any and all combinations!" She says:
Maybe the real Doc Brown accidentally punches through not only space, but realities, and Team Shep has to get him back to his own ("wrong wrong, the physics are all WRONG!") reality before McKay blows a gasket; maybe a weird ancient device makes Doctor Who step out of the television set, or sucks our intreped heroes INTO it; John and Rodney end up in a world where everyone keeps calling them Joe and David; Teyla's favourite bedtime story come to life; Ronon is secretly the Batman; Elizabeth Weir was once vampire, or Rodney's real name is Grant; Carson has a cousin who's an actor on a cheesey scifi soap...
Today is Feb 1; stories will be due Feb 14th at midnight eastern, or thereabouts afterward. *g*

*grins and flails happily* This is the perfect challenge for me- since, as we've all seen, I tend to do AUs/fusions anyways. *Glee!*

I can just imagine Rodney trying to figure out how the TARDIS works.

Somehow I missed the admin notice somewhere in my LJ surfing!! Anyway, the stories posted so far sort of gave me a clue (well, eventually) that there was a new challenge going! *rolls eyes at self*

Hmm, not sure I can write a crossover right now, but we'll see. In the meantime, I just wanted to say that I love the icon!! Ah, boys! *grin*

And also, have we had a challenge (checks, can't see it offhand) for AUs? Basically, anything goes so long as at least one thing in the story is AU. That means it could follow canon but McKay has a brother not a sister, or Zelenka is Chinese; or it could be really AU (and even cracked) like maybe Sheppard is a Pegasus resident, or it's set in some sort of western/pirate/steampunk type world, or the characters are animals (and always have been) or inanimate objects - or wherever your imagination takes you!

What do you think?

Meta? How much meta is appropriate? And of what sort?

So I suppose my question, then, is whether a large timeline starting with the rise of the Alterans in the Milky Way, ending with the first episode of SGA, and hitting a dozen different fandoms in between would be of possible interest to the community's readers.

Dare I hope that the closing of this wonderful challenge will be as fluid as other recent ones have been? (I've got a half-done bit of whimsy I'd love to finish and post.)

Oh, gosh, I'm sorry! I should be able to post by tomorrow evening, if that's okay. I will try for earlier. If you need to close before then, of course you should, and I'll just have to wait for the next amnesty.

All set. I still have my longer story to hopefully finish for amnesty or another suitable challenge, but the little bit of humor I'd been pondering is up.

Thanks for the indulgence.

Could we have an "Oh, those skeevy Ancients" challenge? Think of it! Ancients being baaaad! Ancients using population genetics for deeply unfortunate means! Ancients destroying 5/6ths of a solar system! Ancients leaving extremely dangerous and/or sexual-preference-changing technology lying temptingly in wait! Ancients abducting John Sheppard and taking him to a higher plane for dirty Ascended purposes! (You may say they have left the pleasures of the physical plane behind, but I say that, in that case, they've found even skeevier pleasures on their current plane.)

I distrust Ancients immensely and would enjoy spreading my phobia to others.

*hopeful look*

I second this!

Ascended Ancients pretending to be Greek gods - you know that's how the ATA gene ended up in the populace. They are sooo no better than the Ori. Ancients did in the Furlings.

And my brain immediately freezes up. Which is my usual reaction to flashfiction challenges. I've never come within months of finishing one on time.

Is this challenge going to be closed soon? I know I should have paid more attention to the "thereabouts" but I focused on the "14th" and rushed to get my fic done in time. Which I guess was an unfortunate decision as it wasn't well received, so I'd really like to post it to my site and get that 'out of my hair' closure.
