Many years ago, I wrote to another enclosed spaces challenge, and it was silly and very, very bad. I'm taking another shot at it. I'm hoping this one, while riffing off that one and still being very silly, is better. It can hardly be worse.

McShep, somewhat porny, very silly, spoils for...I don't know, their names? The existence of balconies? No canon placement. More words than I'd planned. Many thanks to Jen for input and laughter. It's her fault I'm posting at the last minute, again, really. Mansquito!

Response to enclosed spaces. MAJOR SPOILERS FOR THE SIEGE (I). I literally take off from a scene in that ep, so please don't read if you don't want to be spoiled. A Grodin-centric double-drabble.

First, I must say this is NOT the story I intended to write. I have fluffy fic sitting on my hard drive that was supposed to be my story for this challenge. Instead, my muse "strongly suggested" I write this. HUGE BIG WARNING: major character death. So, read if you want, you have been warned.

Big thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ane and [livejournal.com profile] idiotparade for the excellent beta jobs. They made this story much better than it was. Any mistakes that remain are mine.

Hi all, this is just a short, silly thing that popped up in my mind. Never tried to write short fanfic before and it's unbetaed, so sorry for any mistake.

I'd been working on a longer story, but I think it died. Then I had one of those 'but what about all the stuff on Atlantis that you need a gene for?' thoughts. This was written in around 15 minutes, it's a mini-McShep fic. Secure - McKay/Sheppard )

Title: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (give or take)
Author: Merry
Summary: There's a vast ocean surrounding the lost city of Atlantis...and we can go there.
McKay/Sheppard, R-ish, kinda silly. 7950 words

Many thanks to the usual beta hit squad: torch, kaneko, res, julad, ces, giddy, astolat. And also Sin, for out-of-control coolness and encouragement.

Note: While I was writing this, there was a little thing I liked to say to myself when I wondered something like, "Can a puddljumper do that?" or "Hm, is that even theoretically possible?" It goes like this: "Pfffffft, science." Rodney would be very, very ashamed.
