Oh, oh-- this is very good. How much do I love that you followed "The natives were" immediately with "restless?" So much.

Also. I very much approve of "pointy sticks" as an indicator of technological development.

The restless bit pretty much wrote itself before I realized. And the marines, in my head, have ongoing debate about whether pointy sticks or sharp rocks are worse. It's an old carryover from the SGC and by this point the sides are practically scripted, though you do occasionally hear a new argument after another mission goes spectacularly wrong.
