TITLE: The Fourth Time
FANDOM: Stargate Atlantis
LENGTH/RATING: 157 words, PG-13, Gen
SUMMARY/NOTES: John dreams dark dreams of torture and revenge...
The first time he'd gone to Carson about the dreams, certain he'd just get a pat on the head and a handful of pills to push the bloodthirsty visions away. The second time he went to Teyla, convinced it was some Wraith plot to drive them all insane, tempting them with vengeance they would never have. The third time he went to Ronon, who had simply grinned, clapped him on the back and offered to go hunting.
The fourth time he went to Rodney, who listened intently then dragged him down into the depths of Atlantis. Into the cold quiet places where no one had been, that lit in joyous welcome at John's passing.
At which point Rodney gave the ancient city a piece of his mind about staying out of other people's minds, and how he would personally dismantle her piece by piece and scatter her across the waves if she so much as thought about meddling with John again. Ever.
It was the first time John had ever seen a city look annoyed.

Good job :)

Date: 2006-07-19 12:35 am (UTC)It's a lot darker a concept than the fic turned out to be (which I was glad for). But the whole Evil/Controlling!Atlantis idea is sort of addicting. I've always had the feeling that the city is still half-asleep, and when she finally wakes up things are gonna go downhill fast. ^_^;;

Date: 2006-07-19 07:06 am (UTC)There is something delicious about the idea of McKay (on behalf of others) vs the city and McKay winning. The Ancients were a nasty bunch, and the Humans are just as bad, and I like the idea of someone through sheer honesty and stubbornness being able to force a little bit of virtue out of things.

Date: 2006-07-19 12:53 pm (UTC)I just love the fact that he's stubborn enough to stand up to this giant hunk of Ancient tech and believe that he can bully it into doing what he wants. And of course, he probably could. Hehehe ^_^
