Seriously, I probably have no business writing this, but you know how something never leaves your head? Forgive my dabbling in a genre I don't write!
---------------

I wake, and find him standing at my door. He looks like he hasn’t slept in days, and shaking like a live wire. As much as I want to be upset with him, I can’t. Between the Wraith sucking the life out of him and giving it back, Replicators, nearly becoming a bug, and the constant threat of impending doom, it’s a wonder he hasn’t turned tail.

His eyes look so desperate, open, and sad; actually he’s making me tired. Moving out of the way, I motion for him to enter. Hesitantly, he does come inside, exhausted hazel eyes roaming the dark corners of my room. I want to reach out to him to steady his swaying body, but I’m afraid he’ll either jump out of his skin or suddenly disappear.

I watch him move listlessly towards the couch, and I make a snap decision. Grabbing his elbow, I steer him toward my bed. A curious thing, watching John Sheppard. His face has never been so expressive, and I chalk it up to being tired. Right now, his eyes hold a mysterious mixture of relief and fear. Leading by example, I sit on the opposite side of the bed, sweeping the covers back, hoping it looks as inviting to him as it does to me. Knowing John, he will want the warmth above anything.

While it’s not the first time we have shared a bed, this will be different. The last time was a misunderstanding; you never know how friendship is viewed in other cultures in this galaxy. We ended up talking all night, playing an invisible game of chess. Even when he can’t literally see a board, he still wins!

He stumbles closer to the bed; I can see him weighing options as he hugs himself tighter. How can I just explain to him this is for his sake? There’s no way he’ll sleep tonight without help, and if he waits any longer, I’ll be asleep myself. Fluffing the extra pillow, I scoot down under the covers and close my eyes. I hear faint rustling as he kicks off his shoes. The bed dips next to me, and I feel him curl up with a sigh. Pulling the covers over us, I try not to reach out and touch him.

There’s absolutely no warmth emanating from him, so I have a need to touch his bare skin to gauge just how cold he is. I touch a bony, muscled shoulder and he shivers at the contact. Just as I thought, he’s freezing. No telling where he’s been before he came here, and chances are it was a balcony.

My hand automatically wanders to the crook of his neck; I can’t seem to stop it. To my surprise, he actually relaxes further and awkwardly turns around to face me. His eyes roam my face, a little glassy and a lot sleepy. I try not to flinch under the weight of his gaze, and just before I look away, he closes his eyes.

Another snap decision, and I reach out to pull him closer. His eyes do not open again, much to my relief. Seriously, he shouldn’t be this easy to move. Nevertheless, I draw him into the circle of my arms. His hair tickles my chin; his breath tickles my chest. My only goal right now is to get him warm enough to stop the shivering.

Soon the shivers stop, and his breathing evens out. He curls impossibly around me like I’m his personal teddy bear, and I find myself indulgently smiling, imagining my own body just as soft and warm.

And furry.

Okay, never mind. I’m not that hairy, right? I start fingering the nape of his neck, relishing the soft hair. At the same time, we give a contented sigh. My work here is done. Well, almost.

The End.

LOL, I was rummaging through fics on sga_flashfic. I was looking at the Wordless Challenge, and your fic was here, it sounded good, and I read it. LOL, I know what you mean about forgetting about fics you wrote. I almost forgot I started writing stories at 11 instead of 13. LOL.

H/C Slash is seriously the best slash around, especially if it is written well. But slash is also good when the people in the relationship are happy, but slowly come to this realization. Love those. Mmm. LOL.

No problem with finding it! Thanks for writing it, it certainly helped me feel good (and at 10:00 p.m. before the start of yet another school day, that always helps!)!!
