So far, we've seen like...nine rooms and a hallway. What else is out there in the city? What used to go on there? What goes on there now? We know the Ancients had bedrooms and labs...did they have libraries? Theatres? Amusement parks? Malls?

(...Starbucks, for the love of all that is good and decent?)

Pick a direction, and send our guys off exploring the city. Then tell us what they find, and what they do when they get there!

It's Sunday evening by my watch; stories will be due next Sunday, May 22nd, at midnight Eastern time. Give or take.

What about a "document" challenge? I'm thinking things like mission reports and epistolary stories and written and/or video diaries, etc.

I'd love a challenge in which everyone has to put the job they do IRL (or the job they are at least trained to do, or are training to do) into a piece. When you think about it, they would have had to bring along a whole pile of people with many skills.

I'm gonna second this one. The possibilities are just about endless with as many writers as there are hanging around here...(okay well mine would be boring, I'm a purchasing manager while I'm in school to get my PhD...) But there have to be people with interesting jobs! Right? *g*

Ah ha!! But you could write about what you're getting your PhD in (or being a student, which I remember as being a full time job).

LOL yeah but right now I'm just working on the AS and the BS..which means I'm doing lots of math and science...and the PhD will be in psychology specializing in sex therapy...

I think there are already plenty of stories with math science and sex don't you? LMAO.

Recreation - what do they do during downtime? Did the gamers find each other and start playing D&D or Cthulu? Is there an Everquest game on the server? Any knitters, bakers, candle stick makers? With only "one personal item each", they must have to be very creative in what they use to entertain themselves.

Hi! I’ve loved all the challenges so far and the fic has been breathtaking! I think it would be fun to see one or more themes/situations in future challenges: stranded off-world, body/gender switching, war time fic or time travel. Finally, my(not-so) secret shames—bonding and slave!fic.

how about the personal item challenge? We know, or are lead to believe what John's personal item was, what about everyone else?

Also - could we maybe have a memory category for suggested challenges? That way everyone can see what's already been suggested and cuts down on doubling up on ideas. And may encourage people who have an idea and are thinking someone else has probably already suggested it, to come forward.

What about a "settling in" kind of challenge ? Some _official_ ritual/decision/announcement that makes clear living in Atlantis is now more than just a temporary mission (like setting up an Atlantis specific time/calender, or changing rules of conduct due to their unusual situation) and the repercussions this might have on people. After all, knowing you might never get home and arranging your life accordingly are two very different things.

Sorry for the anon, don't have a LJ account.

I've long felt that no story set in an action/adventure milieu is complete until someone has dangled or leaped from something.

So how about a Dangling Challenge?
