Boy, you guys weren't kidding. You can read the five (five?) entries in the Vacation challenge here or using the vacation challenge tag.

New challenge coming right up!

Title: Evergreen
Author: Eildon Rhymer ([livejournal.com profile] rhymer23)
Words: 1800
Characters: Team
Spoilers: For season five to date. Also huge spoilers for a certain announcement about the show that came out yesterday (or today, depending on your time zone.) Seriously, please don't read on unless you know what I'm talking about here.
Summary: When you are suddenly released from your responsibilities, what do you do?

Note: This is an odd one, but I felt the need to write it. This is a strange mixture of humour and seriousness, and the fourth wall takes a tumble.

Title: Extreme Rafting for Dummies (Vacation Challenge)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] slybrarian
Rating: PG-13 for language
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Words: 2,165
Summary: Masaq' Orbital was famous for its unusually dangerous extreme sports, even compared to the rest of the Culture. Under normal circumstances Canda-Onteriasa Merdith Rodney M'Kay dam Tronto would never have anything to do with that sort of thing. Unfortunately, his partner John had other ideas.
Notes: This is a fusion with Iain M. Bank's Culture series, and draws several lines of dialog as well as the setting from Look to Windward. I highly recommend that you read it, although there's no need to have done so to understand this. No SGA spoilers and only teensy Culture ones.

This is called a minimal-safety-factor sport for a reason. )

[livejournal.com profile] elementalv suggested the oh-so-very-apropos Vacation challenge. She writes:
I'm taking vacation (finally), and it got me to thinking about how stressful it is on Atlantis. Perhaps the next challenge could be a vacation/shore leave/road trip challenge. Something to get everyone out of work mode and into full-on relaxation mode. Maybe they leave Atlantis to go back to Earth or to another planet in the Pegasus galaxy (or the Milky Way galaxy -- maybe a chance to bring SG1 into the mix?). Or perhaps Ancient tech (or some other kind of tech) gives them all the benefit of relaxing in their head without ever having to leave home. Or maybe someone finds a workable time-dilation field.
Something. Anything. Just give them a chance to visit Margaritaville in one fashion or another.
Make mine lime on the rocks with salt. Vacation ends August 28 at midnight eastern.
